So here is the lowdown on my routine:
So I decided to just give a breakdown of my Wash Day routine as this blog is my personal hair journal that I decided to start at 14 months natural :S!! Yeah I'm a tad bit late in the game but better late than never I say! :-)
So here is the lowdown on my routine:
Day
1 (Maybe Saturday or Sunday)
1.
Section
hair into 4 - 6 sections. Spritz hair with water and apply deep conditioner of
choice. Leave on hair for about an hour while I crochet, mix up some concoction
or just sit under the dryer to pass the the time away.
2.
Co-wash
with V05 or Suave Naturals conditioner or clarifying mud-wash if
needed.
3.
Squeeze
about half a palmful of conditioner and apply to each section. Gently finger
detangle starting from the bottom section of my hair and then gradually move
upwards. Let the conditioner sit on my hair for about five minutes while I deal
with my other business. At this point, I partially rinse the conditioner from
my hair and scalp with cool or cold water while massaging my scalp. The
remaining conditioner functions as my leave-in if I have not whipped
up a batch of the Kimmaytube Leave-In or the DIY Leave-In Conditioner from
one of my fave Beauty Bloggers, Dawn Michelle.
4.
In
preparation for styling, I apply the one of the leave-ins mentioned above on
soaking wet hair by emulsify it in between my palms and then smooth and rake
the product into each section. I also smooth each curl to ensure that it
clumps. I would apply gel in the same manner if I want more hold or definition
for the week.
5.
Let
air dry.
6.
To
elongate by curls, I would band my hair at night and place a shower cap on
my hair with a satin bonnet or scarf on top.
Days
2 - 6
1. In
the morning, refresh curls with water and scrunch or shake head from
side-to-side and front-to-back (do this where no one can see you they'll think
you're mad lol). For more volume, insert with metal clips along path.
2. At
night, sleep in satin bonnet with shower cap underneath.
Optional:
If curls are not as defined then re-wet hair and finger comb the whole hair with conditioner.
Day
7
1.
Start routine from at Day 1. If there is build-up, add an ACV rinse
before styling.
Not too bad huh?! Well, I hope this can be of help to someone out there.
It's almost 1 a.m. and I know tomorrow will be rough at work so..
Toodles,
Tara Danielle
